New construction leaves new wire

Alabaster's growth shows up in electrical inventories as recent material: feeders for new commercial buildings, branch circuit wire for schools and retail, and service cable for subdivisions. When a phase finishes, the leftover reels are usually only months old and still tagged.

That is good news for a seller. New surplus with intact wrap and readable tags is the easiest category to quote, and it holds value better than weathered stock. The same applies to the industrial park stock along the interstate, which tends to be palletized and documented.

If the wire is still at an active site, tell us the closeout schedule. Removal can usually be timed to the project rather than the other way around.

02 Wire types

Recent construction stock

  • THHN/THWN-2 and XHHW-2 in full and partial reels from feeder pulls.
  • MC cable reels from multifamily and commercial rough-in.
  • SER and URD from service and site distribution work.
  • Tray cable and control cable from industrial park build-outs.
  • Fire alarm and plenum cable from school and retail projects.

New reels are often heavier than expected: a full 500 MCM copper reel is a freight item, not a pickup item. Give us the reel count and the tag footage early.

03 Access

Jobsites on the I-65 corridor

Most Alabaster pickups are jobsite pickups: a construction trailer, a fenced laydown yard, a connex at the back of a new building. Access is usually good, but site rules vary — some general contractors require a check-in, a hard hat and a scheduled window.

Tell us the general contractor's requirements if any, and whether a forklift will be available on the day.

Details and photos

Include anything that affects removal: dock height, forklift capacity, appointment rules.

Photos help most when they show the reel flange tag, the print on the jacket, the conductor end and a wide shot of the lot. JPG, PNG, HEIC or PDF; keep the four uploads under 10 MB in total. Larger sets can be emailed to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com.

Submitting this form does not commit you to anything. We reply with an offer or a question — never a mailing list.

05 / Questions

Alabaster questions

Do you buy wire from an active jobsite?

Yes, with coordination. Tell us the site rules and the window when material can leave.

Is new surplus worth more?

Generally yes. Original wrap, readable tags and dry storage support a better number than weathered stock of the same size.

Do you buy partial reels from a single building?

Yes. A single reel can start a conversation if the size and footage are clear.

Closeout coming up?

Send the reel list before the job ends and we can plan removal around it.
